Okay, phew. Wedding is done, honeymoon is over, hopefully I'll be able to start being a photographer again. I've posted some stuff that was left over from the beginning of this year and the end of the last, and very soon I'll have travel photos to upload. I hope you're as excited as I am!

I apologize for the brief(ish) outage over the last few days. I thought I might switch hosts to one that will give me SSH access (don't ask), but as it turns out my current host doesn't really want to give me much in the way of a refund, despite having paid many tens of dollars for hosting this year, so I guess I'll stick with these guys at least until the money runs dry.

Oh jeez, I passed 200 photos uploaded and didn't even know it!

In addition to the little icons underneath images, and the tab underneath the full-size photos, I have added a link on the top bar to a separate page with a listing of all the available desktop wallpapers. As well, the malware/hacking/whatever issue is now completely resolved.

So apparently my web host got hacked, or something, and my site has been coming up in a lot of browsers as containing or hosting malware. This has been corrected at the host's end and I'm just waiting for Google to re-check my site, and then everything should be okay. Hopefully nobody received any horrific infections or anything. Thanks for your patience!

Happy Canada Day!

Many are the lessons I've learned this last week. The first is that, no matter how good an idea it may seem, and no matter how much you've read about the fact that it's possible in Mac OS 10.5, do not ever try to resize active partitions with data on them that you care about. The second is that you need to make sure that your backup method is actually backing up the stuff you want it to! The third is that Mozy, the online backup software I use, is an absolute lifesaver, if a bit of a pain in the butt to restore backups from. Heed my words!

Phew, exams are finally done, certifications have been earned, and now I can finally get back into photography. Expect to see some new and fancy stuff soon (though go check out the newly posted Ostentatious as well.
April 5, 2009
I've just picked up a Nikon AF-D 50mm f/1.8. Once I've had some more time to use it, I'll put my thoughts on it on my About Me page.
February 18, 2009
You may have noticed that the domain name has changed. I'm moving everything over to this new domain, for a couple reasons: this is a .com instead of a .ca, and .com's are cheaper to renew every year than .ca's, and in general I just like it better.
February 7, 2009
So I've gotten my hands on a Holga (a cheesy Chinese plastic film camera, that shoots 120 medium-format film), and I'm experimenting with some expired film and cross-processing and things. The shots I've already uploaded are just experiments (so they may be removed at some point), and I'm still trying to figure out the best way to digitize them (these are scans from the negs). It's a lot of fun, though!
January 15, 2009
In light of the fact that the weather outside is yucky, I've been going through my photographic archives, and have posted a bunch of stuff I dismissed earlier that I now like. Have a looksee!
January 3, 2009
So it's 2009, which is pretty cool. Also, I've changed the site layout a little more to make it more functional and prettier too. Underneath images now you can find even more fancy statistics, and the stats and the print ordering and desktop wallpaper downloading controls are now contained in a fancy tabbed thing. Oh, and check out the About Me section that I just finished.

Woo, icons. The
is for new images (posted within the last two weeks), and the
is for images available for download as desktop wallpaper. The others are just for embellishment, and pretty much explain themselves. ![]()
October 27, 2008
Oh, just so you know, I'm going to start releasing some of my photos as desktop backgrounds. You'll see the ones that are available indicated with a Desktop underneath the date. I'm not going to offer them in a ridiculous array of sizes like interfacelift.com does, but I'll offer them in both wide and full screen (16:10 and 4:3 ratios, respectively) so that everyone can use them on any type of monitor. Feel free to either resize them yourself, or just set Windows or OSX or what have you to shrink them to size.
October 24, 2008
Wow, so Lens and Shutter, my local camera store, came through and got a Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 in stock for me (I've been waiting for like, 4 months), so I had to pick that up. I mean, it was probably the only one for sale in Canada right now, and I don't want to wait another 6 months to see one. So you should see some more cool wide-angle stuff from me soon as well.

I also apologize that all my photos keep coming up as NEW! I discovered that the app I was using to resize my photos after exporting from Lightroom (I love Lightroom, by the way. You should use it. Seriously.), Pixer, was compressing the photos way too much. So I had to re-export and re-resize (Wait until I have to re-re-resize something. :P) What I'm using now is called Photo Drop. It's cool. If you have a Mac, go get it maybe.
October 16, 2008
I apologize that the layout keeps changing. I'm trying to get as many thumbnails on screen as possible without requiring you to scroll. Oh, and some pictures with my new lens are up, though nothing super macro-y. I need a new tripod before I can bust any of that out.
September 26, 2008
Woo, I just got a Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 VR. Expect some more fancy macro shots soon. Incidentally, I've always meant to create a page detailing all the different kit that I've got and use, and maybe one day you'll see that materialize.

I got engaged with my girlfriend of three-ish years, Erin. The wedding is on February 6, 2010.
